CNBC discussion on gay CEOs gets awkward when panelist says of Apple CEO Tim Cook, "he's gay"

During a panel discussion on CNBC's Squawk on the Street, one of the co-hosts triggered a very awkward moment that will probably make it very hard for bookers on the financial news network to get anyone from Apple ever booked on any show ever.

From Mediaite:

Simon Hobbs: "I think Tim Cook is fairly open about the fact he's gay at the head of Apple, isn't he?"

Silence from the panel. Everyone turned to look at Stewart, who responded, "Hmm, no."

"Oh, dear, was that an error?" Hobbs asked. "I thought he was open about it."

He is not, but does anyone really care, and should anyone care about a CEO's sexuality? Are you, dear reader, in the "mind your own business" school or the "Cook can help the world by talking about his personal life" camp? Does the fact that Apple is a very large company make a difference in that equation?
